Our Classes
Classes at KT Leigh Dance Academy are tailored to different age groups, following the TDSC syllabus for Ballet, Tap, and Modern exams and Acrobatics Arts for our Acro classes and examinations.
Exams help develop technique, artistry, and movement quality while providing goals for dancers to work towards.
Baby CLASS
Our Baby class is designed for preschool children aged 2 to 4 years old. In this class, our youngest dancers have an introduction to dance by learning both Ballet and Modern Jazz. By using props like scarves, fairy wands, pom poms, and ribbons, we inspire our youngest dancers to explore their creativity while enhancing rhythm, musicality, and coordination. We follow the TDSC Pre-School syllabus, allowing children to participate in their first Preschool Ballet exams.
MiniS TECHNIQUE CLASS
Our core Minis class is suitable for children aged 4 - 6 years who are in Reception and Year 1. In this class children are taught Ballet and Modern Jazz and work towards their first graded exams in Pre-Primary and Primary.
We focus on the TDSC syllabus where children can take their exams in both subjects.
We also have our Tuesday Tap class and Wednesday Acrobatics class that are additional classes for children this age. However, these classes are subject to availability, and can only be taken alongside our main technique classes on a Saturday.
Pre-Juniors
Our Pre-Junior classes are suitable for children who are in year 2 and 3 and are working towards exams in Primary and Grade 1. Our Pre-Juniors are taught Ballet, Modern Jazz and Tap.
We have our Tuesday Commercial class, Wednesday Acrobatics class and Saturday Musical Theatre class that are additional classes for children this age. However, these classes are subject to availability, and can only be taken alongside our main technique classes on a Saturday.
Juniors/Inters
Our Junior/Inter classes are suitable for children in Grade 1+. Dancers are taught Ballet, Lyrical, Modern Jazz and Tap.
We have our Tuesday Commercial class, Wednesday Acrobatics class, Saturday Musical Theatre class that are additional classes for children this age. However, these classes are subject to availability, and can only be taken alongside our main technique classes on a Saturday.
Acrobatics
We follow the Acrobatic Arts programme, where dancers learn the correct progressions in Acro and take their Acro exams. Classes include Mini Acro for ages 3-6 and Junior/Intermediate Acro for ages 7+.
To join our Acro class, children must already attend their age group technique class on a Saturday, as Acro is an additional class to the main technique classes.
Musical Theatre
We Musical Theatre classes at KT Leigh Dance Academy as an additional class. Our Musical Theatre class is for children aged 6+. Students learn song, spoken dialogue and dance whilst building confidence, character and performance skills. Students will perform Musical Theatre pieces in shows and performances
To join our Musical Theatre class, children must already attend their age group technique class on a Saturday.
Spotlight Classes
Spotlight Classes are offered to children who are part of our Competition Team and show potential to perform as soloists at competitions and in shows. These classes are invite only.
Competition Classes
Our competition classes are invite only. Children are invited to join our competition classes when they show determination, commitment to the school and strong technical ability. Our competition children enter competitions locally and afar, and are offered various performance opportunities around the country.
