Our Classes
Classes at KT Leigh Dance Academy are tailored to different age groups, following the TDSC syllabus for Ballet, Tap, and Modern exams and Acrobatics Arts for our Acro classes and examinations.
Exams help develop technique, artistry, and movement quality while providing goals for dancers to work towards.
Baby Ballet
Our Baby Ballet class is designed for preschool children aged 2 to 4 years old. By using props like scarves, fairy wands, pom poms, and ribbons, we inspire our youngest dancers to explore their creativity while enhancing rhythm, musicality, and coordination. We follow the TDSC Pre-School syllabus, allowing children to participate in their first Preschool Ballet exams.
Minis
Our Minis classes are suitable for children aged 4 - 6 years who are in Reception and Year 1. In this class children are taught Ballet, and Modern Jazz and Lyrical technique is also introduced. We often use props in this class such as scarves, ribbons and flower petals to encourage the children to story-tell through dance.
We focus on the TDSC syllabus where children can take their Pre-Primary Ballet exams.
Pre-Juniors
Our Pre-Junior classes are suitable for children who are in year 2 and 3. Our Pre-Juniors are taught Ballet, Lyrical, Modern Jazz and Tap.
We follow the TDSC syllabus where children can take their exams in Ballet, Modern and Tap.
Juniors/Inters
Our Junior/Inter classes are suitable for children in year 4 - year 8. Dancers are taught Ballet, Lyrical, Modern Jazz and Tap.
We follow the TDSC syllabus where children can take their exams in Ballet, Modern and Tap.
Acrobatics
We follow the Acrobatic Arts programme, where dancers learn the correct progressions in Acro and take their Acro exams. Classes include Mini Acro for ages 4-7 and Junior/Intermediate Acro for ages 8-14.
Students are taught Acro Troupes in this class that can then be entered into competitions and performed in shows and events.
To join our Acro class, children must already attend their age group technique class in Ballet as Ballet is the core of all subjects.
Musical Theatre
We offer two Musical Theatre classes at KT Leigh Dance Academy. Our Mini MT class is for children aged 4-7 years, and our Junior/Inter MT class is for children aged 8-14 years. Students learn song, spoken dialogue and dance whilst building confidence, character and performance skills. Students will perform Musical Theatre pieces in shows and performances.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are offered to children who show commitment to the school, and show potential to perform as soloists at competitions and in shows. These classes are invite only.
Competition Classes
Our competition classes are invite only. Children are invited to join our competition classes when they show determination, commitment to the school and strong technical ability. Our competition children enter competitions locally and afar, and are offered various performance opportunities around the country.
